The HRPP shall charge a one-time, non-refundable IRB review fee to all industry-sponsored human research projects. The IRB review fee does not apply to federally-funded research, investigator-initiated research, or research supported by grants from non-profit foundations or organizations.
IRB review fees are charged regardless of the outcome of IRB review, contract status, or enrollment status. The PI / PI's department is responsible for payment of IRB review fees upon completion of IRB review.
**New IRB Fee Schedule for Industry-Sponsored Research: Effective January 2, 2026, a new IRB fee schedule will go into effect for new industry-sponsored research. A new IRB fee schedule will also go into effect for external affiliate sites for whom OUHC is the IRB of record (e.g., Dean McGee Eye Institute and VA Health Care System). The previous rates for new studies, continuing review, and relying on external IRB applications will increase and two new fees will be added for modifications reviewed by the full board and final closure/inactivation reports. All previously-approved industry-sponsored research will remain on the existing (pre-2026) fee schedule and will NOT be impoacted by the new fees.
