A component of the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP), the Institutional Review Boards (IRB) mission is to protect the rights, safety, and well-being of people involved in research. The IRBs review human research to ensure that it meets the ethical principles and complies with federal regulations, state laws, and OU policies.
The OUHC IRB Office reviews human research conducted by faculty, staff, and students for OUHC in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, as well as medical and clinical research that is conducted by OU-Norman researchers. The HC IRB Office also reviews human research for OU Health, Dean McGee Eye Institute, and VA Health Care System in Oklahoma City and Eastern Oklahoma.
