Welcome to the Office of Human Research Participant Protection (HRPP) website. The HRPP was established by the University to support the University’s commitment to the protection of human participants in research.
The HRPP not only encompasses the Institutional Review Board’s review of research but also provides guidance and resources to investigators and research teams through education, quality improvement, and outreach programs.
The HRPP has earned full accreditation through the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs. Attainment of accreditation demonstrates our commitment to excellence in research and the protection of our research participants.
As the Organizational Official, my responsibilities include overseeing the HRPP on the HSC and Norman campuses and acting for and approving actions regarding and on behalf of the HRPP.

- Gary Raskob, Ph.D., Senior Vice President & Provost, serves as the Institutional Official for the HSC Campus.
- Darrin Akins, Ph.D., Vice President for Research, oversees operation of the Office of HRPP for the HSC campus.
- Tomas Diaz de la Rubia, Ph.D., Vice President for Research and Partnerships, serves as the Institutional Official for the Norman Campus.
- Melany Dickens-Ray, Chief of Staff, Associate Vice President for Research and Partnerships, HRPP Institutional Official Designee for the Norman Campus.
- Sandra Nettleton, Director of Compliance and University Privacy Official, oversees operation of the Office of HRPP for the Norman campus.
